Better Than Today - Kylie Minogue
“Come out with me,” Mark grinned brightly from Howard’s doorstep. Howard blinked back at him.
“Come out with you?” he repeated slowly. Mark nodded.
“Yes. We’re going to go out on the town, you and me,” he replied.
“Mark, you know I hate ‘Night’s out on the town’ – I’m not exactly a quiet night in man but I’d rather not go dancing on table tops either,” Howard sighed and Mark rolled his eyes.
“How can you hate something that you haven’t tried yet?! You’ve never been out on the town with me have you! You and me together, we can put everyone else in town to shame,” he grinned.
“Why are you doing this Mark? We have hardly spoken since...well, since the end of the band,” Howard frowned. Mark shrugged.
“I know you’re upset about Jay...I know you took it personally. Him choosing to go travelling I mean,” he said, his eyes not able to meet Howard’s as he spoke.
“Mark I don’t feel like...” Howard began but Mark shook his head.
“No! Howard, you have to lose control every once in a while, run wild once in a while! It was you and Jay that were always telling me life’s no fun without a dance every now and again!”
“Jay said it. I just agreed with it...coz I got to spend time with him that way...” Howard mumbled.
“I’ll make you forget him,” Mark said confidently and Howard winced.
“No one can do that,” Howard told him.
“Maybe, maybe not. But I know I’ll make you feel better tomorrow than you have felt all day today...well, once the hangover subsides that is,” Mark grinned back. Howard couldn’t help but laugh, feeling himself relent.
“Go on then Mark, I’ll give you a chance,” he conceded at last.
