Mistletoe
Jason grinned as he watched Mark jumping up and down, unsuccessfully trying to reach the top of the Christmas tree, chuckling softly and crossing the room. Without asking for permission, he came up behind Mark, wrapping his arms around his waist and lifting him off the ground. Mark beamed down at him then turned his attention back to the task at hand, stretching his arm out and putting the star securely in place at the top of the Christmas tree. Mark loved a good party and he could hardly contain his excitement when Jason had invited him to help set up. Slowly Jason set him down on the ground, his blue eyes glittering as they met Mark’s. ‘So, we done then?’ Mark asked Jason, surveying the room. Jason had done an brilliant job of setting up whilst Mark had been let loose with the decorating; the tree being his work of art for the day. Twinkling fairylights and sparkling snowflakes hung in every corner and the Christmas shimmer of it all was almost romantic, Mark thought. ‘Just one more thing I’d like your help with Markie’ Jason smiled. Mark frowned slightly, curious as to what detail could possibly have been missed; but he knew Jason had an eye for detail so he simply shrugged and said ‘Ok’. There was a mysterious twinkle in Jason’s eyes as he looked down at Mark, producing a sprig of mistletoe from his pocket. ‘Put this up for me?’ he asked. ‘I’m too short though!’ Mark frowned in reply. ‘I’ll lift you’ Jason offered. ‘Ok’ Mark agreed, not sure why Jason didn’t just put the mistletoe up for himself but happy to help however he could. As Mark stuck the mistletoe in place above the doorway, Jason slowly began to lower him back to the ground, gentle and tentative this time. As Mark’s feet touched the floor, he wondered why Jason’s arms were still around his waist and turned around to look at him. Jason’s eyes were bright as he captured Mark’s lips with his own. ‘You got a date for this party yet?’ Jason asked softly as the kiss ended. Mark blinked, trying to recover his spinning head. ‘No...’ Mark told him faintly. Jason kissed his forehead and smiled ‘Well, you have now’. Mark wasn’t about to argue and instead he smiled, wrapped his arms around Jason’s neck and pulled him down for another kiss.
